Heatable Solar Panels Review (2026): Price, Wait Times & Verdict

Heatable made its name selling boilers online at a fixed price, and it now does the same with solar. The offer is strong on paper: LONGi 485W panels, a choice of three batteries including the Tesla Powerwall 3, 0% finance and package prices that, in our view, are low for the kit. This review covers what Heatable solar costs once scaffolding is added, the kit, how the online quote works, who fits it, warranties, what the reviews and complaints say, and how it compares with a local installer.

The short version: Heatable solar is one of the better big-name offers in 2026. Ten LONGi Hi-MO X10 485W panels with a battery cost from £9,155 installed, or £11,815 with a Tesla Powerwall 3, both on 0% finance. The panels are among the most efficient you can buy, and Heatable says it’s a Which? Trusted Trader and a Tesla Premium Certified Installer. Three things to check before you sign. Scaffolding is extra, typically £800–£950, and isn’t in the online quote. The workmanship warranty is five years, where many local installers give ten. And the 4.8 Trustpilot score is for the whole company, including boilers, its original business, so it isn’t a score for solar alone. It’s worth a quote. Add the scaffolding, then compare the total with one local price. Jump to prices, the quote, wait times, reviews and complaints or Tesla.

What Heatable solar is

Heatable is an online home-energy company based in Winwick, near Warrington. It started in 2017 selling boilers at a fixed price through its website, with no salesman visiting, and became one of the best-known names in that market. It has since added solar panels and battery storage, and says it has completed more than 50,000 home installations in all.

The solar offer works the same way as the boilers:

  • You get a fixed price online. You answer questions about your home and roof, and the site gives you a price for a set package.
  • One panel, three batteries. Every system uses the same LONGi panel. You choose between Alpha ESS, Sigenergy and Tesla batteries.
  • An installer from Heatable’s network fits it. Heatable manages the job, and your contract is with Heatable.
  • It covers England, Scotland and Wales.

Heatable lists the accreditations you’d want on its website: MCS certification, RECC membership, NAPIT for the electrical work, Which? Trusted Trader status and Tesla Premium Certified Installer status (MCS certification explained).

One note if you’ve read older reviews. Until early 2026, Heatable fitted its own exclusive brand of panel, the REA Fusion, usually with microinverters. It no longer sells those. Any review that talks about REA Fusion panels is describing the old package.

Heatable solar cost and prices (2026)

These are the package prices on Heatable’s website in October 2026. Each is for ten panels, which is a 4.85kW system, fitted with a battery.

Heatable solar packageBattery sizePrice on the websiteMonthly at 0% APRWith typical scaffolding added
10 LONGi panels + Alpha ESS battery14.4kWh£9,155£88.76About £9,950–£10,100
10 LONGi panels + Sigenergy battery9.1kWh£9,560£92.69About £10,350–£10,500
10 LONGi panels + Tesla Powerwall 313.5kWh£11,815£114.55About £12,600–£12,750

The cost that isn’t in the online price

Heatable says scaffolding is not included in the online quote and typically costs around £800–£950. Nearly every roof installation needs it, so for most homes the total for the cheapest package will be about £10,000. Heatable is open about this on its website. Many local installers include scaffolding in their quote, so make sure you compare totals.

Even with scaffolding, these are good prices. For comparison, a local MCS installer typically charges:

SystemTypical local price, scaffolding included
4kW with a 5kWh battery£9,000–£11,500
4kW with a 10kWh battery£10,500–£13,000
6kW with a 10kWh battery£12,000–£14,500

Heatable’s 4.85kW system with a 14.4kWh battery, at about £10,000 all in, sits at the bottom of that range with a bigger battery than most. The Tesla package is competitive as well. Bear in mind that the website prices are starting points. A complex roof, a long cable run or an upgrade to your fuse board can all add to the final figure.

A system this size, on a south-facing roof, generates about 4,400–5,000kWh a year. With a battery, that’s worth roughly £1,200–£1,400 a year at October 2026 electricity prices, so it would pay for itself in around seven to nine years (solar panel payback, solar panel cost, 4kW solar with a battery).

Heatable’s site doesn’t show a headline price for panels without a battery. If that’s what you want, run the quote tool and see what it offers. For help deciding, see are solar batteries worth it?

What panels and batteries does Heatable use?

PartWhat Heatable fitsOur view
PanelsLONGi Hi-MO X10, 485W, about 24% efficient, all black, back-contact cellsExcellent. One of the most efficient home panels on sale, from one of the world’s largest makers (LONGi review)
Panel warranty30 years on the product and on performanceLonger than the 25 years most brands give
Battery option 1Alpha ESS, 14.4kWhThe value choice. A lot of storage for the money
Battery option 2Sigenergy, 9.1kWhA newer brand that has become popular with installers
Battery option 3Tesla Powerwall 3, 13.5kWhThe premium choice, with whole-home backup (see below)
InverterSupplied with the battery systemAsk for the exact model in writing
MonitoringIncludedThrough the battery maker’s app

The panel is the highlight. “Back contact” means the wiring is on the rear of each cell, so nothing shades the front. That lifts efficiency and gives a clean, all-black face with no silver lines. Ten of them make 4.85kW, where ten ordinary 440W panels would make 4.4kW (most efficient solar panels, types of solar panels).

The limit is choice. You get this panel and one of three batteries. If you want a different panel, a small 5kWh battery or a particular inverter brand, a local installer will be more flexible (best solar batteries, what size solar battery?).

Ask whether bird-proofing mesh is included. It’s much cheaper fitted on the day than added later (pigeon proofing solar panels).

Heatable solar and Tesla Powerwall 3

Heatable says it is a Tesla Premium Certified Installer, a status it says is held by only around 5% of Tesla’s certified installers. If you want a Powerwall, that matters, because Tesla sells the Powerwall through its certified installers.

Heatable and TeslaDetails
Powerwall 3 with ten LONGi panels£11,815 plus scaffolding
Powerwall 3 without panelsBattery £6,495, or about £7,395 installed
Usable capacity13.5kWh
Power output11.5kW continuous, enough to run a whole house
Warranty10 years, with at least 80% capacity at the end
Built inA solar inverter, so no separate one is needed

The Tesla package costs about £2,650 more than the Alpha ESS one, for a slightly smaller battery. What you’re paying for is power, backup and the app. A Powerwall 3 can run nearly everything in the house at once and keep it running in a power cut. If you don’t need that, the Alpha ESS package is better value. Note that Tesla doesn’t sell solar panels in the UK, so “Heatable solar Tesla” always means LONGi panels with a Tesla battery (Tesla solar panels review, battery backup in a power cut).

The Heatable solar quote: how it works

Getting a Heatable solar quote takes a few minutes and you don’t speak to anyone unless you want to. This is the process as Heatable describes it:

  1. Answer questions online about your home and how you use energy.
  2. Map your roof. The quote calculator scans your roof, or you draw round the part you want to use on a 3D map.
  3. Pick a package and see a price and an estimate of savings.
  4. Full system design. Heatable’s team checks the roof’s suitability and finalises the quote.
  5. Paperwork. Heatable handles the application to your electricity network.
  6. Installation is booked for a day that suits you.

The appeal is obvious: a price in minutes and no sales visit. The thing to understand is that the first price comes from an online mapping tool, before anyone has seen your home. Heatable says its team then does a full system design. Its website doesn’t say whether that includes a visit, so ask. Any design done from a distance can miss shade from a tree or an awkward cable route. To get the best Heatable solar quote, check these before you accept:

  • Is scaffolding in the price? If not, what will it cost for your house?
  • How many panels, and on which parts of the roof?
  • What yearly output in kWh is it based on, and does that allow for shade?
  • Which inverter is being fitted, and where will the battery go?
  • Is bird mesh included?
  • Who is the installer, and whose name is on the MCS certificate?
  • What happens to the price if the installer finds a problem on the day?

More on what a proper quote should contain is in how to choose a solar installer.

Heatable solar panel installation and wait times

StageWhat to expect
Online quoteA few minutes
Full system design by Heatable’s teamNot stated
Network approvalNeeded before fitting for nearly every battery system. Usually two to eight weeks
ScaffoldingGoes up a day or two before the install
Installation, panels onlyTypically one day
Installation, panels and batteryOne to two days
Order to installationHeatable says “fitted in 4–6 weeks”

Heatable’s website says systems are fitted in four to six weeks. That will vary with the time of year and where you live. The installation itself is quick. Most of the wait is the network approval, which every installer has to get for a system of this size with a battery and which no installer controls. Ask for an expected date before you pay a deposit (how long does solar installation take?, how panels are installed).

Heatable says the work is carried out by one of its approved installation partners, from a network of installers it trains and supports, and that all of them are insured, vetted and qualified. That’s a common way for national companies to work. It’s still worth asking which firm will fit your system and whose name will be on the MCS certificate.

Heatable solar warranties

CoverHeatableGood local MCS installer
Panels30 years, product and performance25–30 years, depending on the brand
Battery10 years on the Tesla Powerwall 3. Ask for the Alpha ESS and Sigenergy terms10 years typical
Workmanship5 years, insurance-backedOften 10 years, insurance-backed
DepositProtectedProtected through HIES or RECC

The panel warranty is as good as you’ll find. The workmanship warranty is the part where Heatable is behind. That’s the cover for a leak, a loose cable or a bracket that wasn’t fixed properly, and five years is shorter than the ten that many local firms offer. It is insurance-backed, which means it’s designed to protect you whatever happens to the installer.

Some older articles, including on Heatable’s own site, mention shorter workmanship cover. The five-year figure is what its solar page said when we checked. Get the length in writing on your own order (solar panel warranties explained).

Heatable solar finance

  • 0% APR on the packages shown, from £88.76 a month. Interest-free credit on solar isn’t common, and it’s a real point in Heatable’s favour.
  • 9.9% APR on other terms.
  • Buy now, pay later, where you pay nothing until the following year.

With 0% finance, check the term, the deposit and the total you’ll repay, and make sure the cash price isn’t lower than the price you’re being charged on credit. With buy now, pay later, check what interest applies if you don’t clear the balance in time. This isn’t financial advice, and the full picture is in how to finance solar panels.

Heatable solar reviews and complaints

Heatable’s review scores are very high. The question is how much they tell you about solar in particular.

What customers praise

In the positive reviews we read, the same things come up again and again: the simple online ordering, clear pricing, quick installation and polite, tidy engineers.

Heatable solar complaints

Critical reviews are a small minority. When we checked Heatable’s Trustpilot page on 6 October 2026, 91% of about 15,000 reviews were five-star and 1% were one-star. That’s a strong record for a company of its size.

The critical reviews cover all of Heatable’s products, not solar alone. Among the recent ones we read were a customer unhappy that an installation was cancelled at short notice, and a customer who felt their solar quote was higher than others they’d been given. Heatable had replied publicly to both. These are individual customers’ own accounts, which we haven’t verified, and two reviews can’t tell you how a company performs overall.

Every large installer gets some critical reviews. What matters is how they’re dealt with. Read the most recent ones on Trustpilot yourself, and look at how Heatable responded.

How to read the reviews

When you look at Heatable solar reviews on Trustpilot, filter or search for “solar”. That shows you the reviews for the product you’re buying. There’s no separate published score for Heatable’s solar installations, so we can’t give you one.

Heatable solar reviews and Martin Lewis

People search for what Martin Lewis says about Heatable solar. He and MoneySavingExpert don’t recommend individual solar installers, and we found no MSE review of Heatable’s solar service. MSE’s general advice is to check an installer is MCS-certified and to compare prices before you commit. There are threads about Heatable on the MSE forum, written by members, not by MSE (what Martin Lewis says about solar panels).

On price and panels, Heatable is hard to beat. In our view, a good local installer has the edge on the survey, the length of the guarantee and knowing from the start who’ll be on your roof. Which matters more depends on your house. A simple, unshaded roof suits Heatable’s model well. A shaded, awkward or older roof is where an in-person survey earns its keep.

Heatable solar panels: pros and cons

Pros

  • LONGi Hi-MO X10 485W panels, about 24% efficient
  • 30-year panel warranty
  • Sharp prices, from about £10,000 with a large battery
  • 0% APR finance
  • Tesla Premium Certified Installer
  • Which? Trusted Trader, with a fast online quote

Cons

  • Scaffolding is extra, about £800–£950
  • 5-year workmanship warranty, against 10 from many local firms
  • Online price is set before anyone has visited the roof
  • One panel and three batteries to choose from
  • Review scores cover the whole company, not solar alone

Verdict: who should buy solar panels from Heatable?

4.0 / 5. Heatable is one of the best of the big-name solar offers in 2026. The panels are top-tier, the prices are low even after scaffolding, and 0% finance is rare. If you have a straightforward roof and want a fixed price without a sales visit, it deserves to be on your shortlist.

In our scoring it loses marks for three things: scaffolding sits outside the headline price, the workmanship guarantee is shorter than many local installers offer, and the review scores don’t separate solar from boilers. None of those is a reason to walk away. They’re reasons to add up the true total, get the guarantee in writing, and set it against one local quote from someone who has stood on your drive and looked at your roof (solar panel installers near me, are solar panels worth it?).

New to solar, or ready to upgrade what you’ve got?

Either way, one vetted, MCS-certified installer visits, tells you plainly what will work on your roof and puts a fixed price in writing, so you have a real figure to set against Heatable’s. We’re paid by the installer, never by you.

Heatable solar: frequently asked questions

Is Heatable solar any good?

Yes. Heatable fits LONGi Hi-MO X10 485W panels, which are about 24% efficient and carry a 30-year warranty, with a choice of Alpha ESS, Sigenergy or Tesla batteries. Prices are low and 0% finance is available. The points to weigh are that scaffolding costs extra, the workmanship warranty is five years, and the online price is set before anyone has visited the roof. We rate it 4.0 out of 5.

How much does Heatable solar cost?

In October 2026, Heatable’s website priced ten LONGi 485W panels with a 14.4kWh Alpha ESS battery at £9,155, with a 9.1kWh Sigenergy battery at £9,560, and with a Tesla Powerwall 3 at £11,815. Scaffolding is not included and typically adds £800–£950. Monthly payments start at £88.76 on 0% APR.

What solar panels does Heatable use?

Heatable fits the LONGi Hi-MO X10, a 485W all-black panel with back-contact cells and an efficiency of about 24%. It has a 30-year product and performance warranty. Until early 2026 Heatable fitted its own exclusive REA Fusion panels, which it no longer sells, so older reviews describe a different package.

Does Heatable install Tesla Powerwall?

Yes. Heatable says it is a Tesla Premium Certified Installer. A Tesla Powerwall 3 with ten LONGi panels costs £11,815 plus scaffolding, and a Powerwall 3 without panels costs about £7,395 installed. The Powerwall 3 has 13.5kWh of usable storage, 11.5kW of power, a built-in solar inverter and a 10-year warranty.

What do Heatable solar reviews say?

Heatable’s Trustpilot score was 4.8 out of 5 from about 15,000 reviews when we checked on 6 October 2026, with 91% five-star and 1% one-star. That score covers all its products, and there’s no separate score for solar. Positive reviews praise the online ordering, clear pricing and quick installation. Critical reviews are a small minority. Search the reviews for “solar” to see the relevant ones.

How long does Heatable take to install solar panels?

The installation takes one day for panels and one to two days with a battery. Heatable’s website says systems are fitted in four to six weeks. Nearly every battery system needs approval from the local electricity network before fitting, which usually takes two to eight weeks, so ask for an expected date when you order.

What warranty does Heatable give on solar?

Heatable’s solar page gives a five-year insurance-backed workmanship warranty, a 30-year product and performance warranty on the LONGi panels and 10 years on the Tesla Powerwall 3. Many local MCS installers give ten years on workmanship. Some older articles mention shorter cover from Heatable, so get the length confirmed in writing on your order.

Does Martin Lewis recommend Heatable solar?

No. Martin Lewis and MoneySavingExpert don’t recommend individual solar installers, and we found no MSE review of Heatable’s solar service. MSE’s general advice is to use an MCS-certified installer and compare prices before committing. Posts about Heatable on the MSE forum are written by members, not by MSE.

Going Solar UK is an introduction service, not an installer, and has no connection with Heatable, Tesla, LONGi, Martin Lewis or MoneySavingExpert. Totals with scaffolding are our own arithmetic using Heatable’s stated range. The Trustpilot score and star breakdown are as shown on Trustpilot on 6 October 2026, and the Google score is as reported by a third-party directory in 2026. Customer reviews mentioned here are those customers’ own accounts, which we have not verified. The four to six week fitting time is Heatable’s own figure. The rating and the comparisons are our opinion, based on the published information. If anything here is inaccurate or out of date, contact us and we will correct it.
