Solar Panels Guildford (2026): Costs, Savings, Grants & Installers

Guildford gets about 1,580 hours of sunshine a year, measured at Wisley on the edge of the borough, which puts it among the sunnier towns in England. It also has three things that make solar here different from the town down the road. It’s built on steep hills. It has 40 conservation areas, seven of them with extra planning controls. And its borough council disappears in April 2027. This guide covers what solar panels cost in Guildford in 2026, what a roof here generates, which houses suit it, grants and the council scheme, planning, the network operator, battery storage, maintenance, commercial solar, and how to choose a vetted local installer.

Going Solar UK is an introduction service, not an installer. We’re paid by the installer, never by you.

The short version: A 4kW system in Guildford costs £5,900–£7,800 installed (0% VAT) and generates 3,850–4,200kWh a year on a south-facing roof. It saves around £740–£800 a year and pays back in about 8–10 years. The semis and estates of Burpham, Merrow, Stoughton and Park Barn are the easy installs. Roof panels are permitted development on most homes, but Guildford has 40 conservation areas, and seven of them, including Onslow Village and Charlotteville, have extra controls. The county’s group-buying scheme, Solar Together Surrey, has finished its 2025 round. There are no free solar panels for most homeowners. Lower-income households in a D–G rated home can apply for the Warm Homes: Local Grant on 01483 404505. The network operator is UK Power Networks. Below: prices, which Guildford homes work, grants and the council, planning, batteries, maintenance, commercial, areas covered.

Solar panel installation cost in Guildford: 2026 prices

Solar panel installation cost in Guildford sits a little above the national average. This is one of the most expensive towns in the country outside London, and labour, scaffolding and parking all reflect that. There’s a lot of competition, though, with installers based across Surrey and many more travelling in from Hampshire and south-west London. Typical 2026 installed prices, all with 0% VAT:

SystemPanelsGuildford installed priceWith 5kWh batteryWith 10kWh batteryTypical home
3kW7£4,800–£6,200£7,900–£9,700—2-bed terrace or small semi
4kW9–10£5,900–£7,800£9,400–£11,800£10,900–£13,3003-bed semi
5–6kW12–14£6,900–£9,700£10,400–£13,200£11,900–£14,7004-bed detached, EV, home in the day
8kW18£9,700–£11,900—£14,700–£17,300Large detached, heat pump, two EVs

Several things move a Guildford quote, and solar power installation cost here depends on the plot as much as the roof. Steep streets. Guildford sits in a gap in the North Downs, and on roads running up from the town centre the scaffolding has to be built on a slope, which takes longer. Plain clay tiles on older houses take more care than concrete tiles and add £300–£800. Tall, complex roofs on large detached houses split the array across several faces and often need optimisers (optimisers). Permit parking near the centre makes deliveries slower. A plain two-storey semi with a driveway in Burpham, Bellfields or Park Barn is the cheapest install in the town. System sizes are covered in our 3kW, 4kW, 5kW, 6kW and 8kW guides. The county picture is in solar panels in Surrey, and the national one in solar panel cost UK.

How much you’ll generate and save

The Met Office station at Wisley, in the north of the borough, averages 1,584 hours of sunshine a year. That’s well above the UK average. A well-oriented, unshaded roof in Guildford yields roughly 960–1,050kWh per kW of panels a year. One modern 440W panel on a south-facing roof here produces about 420–460kWh a year. For a 4kW system:

4kW system, roof facing…Annual outputSaving/yr (no battery)*Saving/yr (with battery)*Payback (panels only)
South (±20°)3,850–4,200kWh£740–£800£1,050–£1,2408–10 yrs
South-east / south-west3,650–4,000kWh£700–£770£1,010–£1,1908–10 yrs
East or west3,150–3,450kWh£600–£660£890–£1,06010–12 yrs
East-west split (both slopes)3,250–3,550kWh£620–£680£910–£1,0809–11 yrs
North2,400–2,600kWh£460–£500—13+ yrs, usually not worth it

*At the October–December 2026 price cap of 26.32p/kWh and 12p export, with about half the output used at home (about 80% with a battery, plus some off-peak winter charging). Homes where someone is in during the day, or with an EV or heat pump, do better. Guildford has two things that can cut these figures. The first is trees. This is the most wooded county in England, and a mature oak or beech to the south can take a fifth or more off your output. The second is the hills. A house on a north-facing slope, or tucked below higher ground to the south, loses winter sun early. A proper shade analysis at survey matters more here than the brand of panel (solar panels and shading). The ideal fixed tilt is about 35–38°, but anything from 25° to 45° loses only a few per cent (best angle and direction, roof pitch). Solar panel output has the month-by-month curve, solar panel payback shows the sums, and the calculator will run your own usage.

Home solar in Guildford: houses and roofs

Guildford grew outwards from a medieval high street, so the housing gets newer as you move away from the centre. That decides what home solar will do for you. The case by type and area:

  • Inter-war and post-war semis and detached houses. Burpham, Merrow, Boxgrove, Stoughton and Fairlands. Hipped or gabled tiled roofs that take 8–12 panels across two or three faces. These are the most common domestic solar panel installations in the town (semi-detached).
  • Council-built estates. Park Barn, Bellfields and Westborough. Solid houses with simple roofs and good spacing. Easy, good-value installs.
  • Onslow Village. A garden suburb begun in the 1920s, with cottage-style houses, steep tiled roofs and hedged gardens. It’s a conservation area with extra planning controls, so read the planning section before you get a quote.
  • Victorian and Edwardian streets. Charlotteville, the streets around the station and the town centre. Slate and clay-tile terraces and villas with smaller roofs broken up by chimneys, so 6–9 panels is typical. Several are in conservation areas (terraced houses, solar on slate).
  • Large detached houses. Abbotswood, St Catherine’s, Guildown, Shalford, the Horsleys and the villages. Big roofs, high electricity use and often an EV or two. These suit 6–10kW with battery storage. Watch for complex roofs and tall trees (detached houses, 5-bed houses).
  • Surrey Hills villages. Shere, Albury, Gomshall, Compton and Puttenham. Tile-hung cottages and handmade clay roofs, many listed or in conservation areas. An outbuilding or ground-mounted panels is often the better answer (unusual roofs).
  • Bungalows. Common in Merrow, Burpham, Jacobs Well and Ash. Big, low roofs and single-storey scaffolding make them close to ideal (bungalows).
  • New builds. Recent estates in Ash, Tongham and on the edges of the town often already have a few panels and suit an upgrade or a battery. Check any estate covenant (solar on a new build). From March 2027 the Future Homes Standard makes solar a requirement on most new homes in England.
  • Flats and student houses. The town centre and the streets near the university have many flats and rented houses. Roof panels need the freeholder’s consent in a block. Landlords can fit solar to rented houses (solar panels for flats, solar for landlords). For a balcony, plug-in solar has been legal since August 2026.

Solar panel installation in Guildford: what to expect

Once the paperwork is done, a solar installation in Guildford is quick. If you want to install solar panels on a house here, the job follows the same order almost every time:

  1. Survey and design. A domestic solar panel survey covers the roof structure, the tiles, the consumer unit and shade from trees and higher ground. Some installers use a drone for an aerial solar panel survey on tall or awkward roofs. You then get a fixed, itemised quote.
  2. Planning check. If the building is listed, consent comes first. In a conservation area or the Surrey Hills, the installer confirms the design stays within permitted development.
  3. Grid application. For most systems above 3.68kW, and almost all battery systems, the installer applies to the network operator before fitting (see the network operator).
  4. Scaffolding. Solar panel scaffolding goes up a day or two before the install. On a sloping street or a road with permit parking it may need a licence, which the scaffolder arranges.
  5. Installation. Panels, inverter and any battery are fitted in one to two days for a typical home, or two to three for a large detached house.
  6. Handover. You get an MCS certificate, an electrical certificate and the monitoring app. You then register for export payments.

From accepting a quote to switch-on, allow four to eight weeks, with the grid application the main variable (how long installation takes, how panels are installed, best time to install). Whoever you choose, make sure they are MCS-certified. Without the MCS certificate, you can’t be paid for the electricity you export. For which panel to choose, see best solar panels UK. If you’d like a Tesla Powerwall with your panels, read our Tesla solar review first, because Tesla doesn’t sell solar panels in the UK.

A quote for solar panels in Guildford: what to expect

A quote for solar panels in Guildford can vary a lot for the same house, and the cheapest isn’t always the best value. A proper one should have all of this in writing:

  • The make and model of the panels, inverter and any battery, not just “Tier 1 panels”.
  • The number of panels and the total system size in kW.
  • A shade analysis and a yearly output figure in kWh, worked out for your roof.
  • Scaffolding, bird mesh, optimisers and the grid application, each shown as included or priced.
  • The product warranties and the length of the workmanship guarantee.
  • The deposit, which should be protected, and the payment stages.
  • A price that stays open for at least 30 days.

Be wary of a quote given over the phone from a satellite image alone, a big discount for signing today, or a savings figure with no working shown (solar panel scams). If you want to pay monthly, read how to finance solar first.

Solar panels in Guildford: grants, Solar Together and the council

People search for solar panels grants in Guildford expecting the council to help with the cost. For most homeowners it doesn’t. Here’s what is on offer, as of October 2026.

SchemeWhat we found in October 2026
Warm Homes: Local GrantOpen. Run by Surrey County Council for the whole county, with £14 million to spend. It can pay for insulation and solar panels in privately owned homes rated EPC D–G where the household income is £36,000 or less, or someone receives certain benefits. Call 01483 404505
Solar Together SurreyBetween rounds. The county’s group-buying scheme, run with iChoosr. The 2025 round took registrations from 2 June to 8 August 2025, with installations due by the end of March 2026. One Surrey council’s website says a wider replacement scheme is coming in autumn 2026. We couldn’t find a launch date
Home Energy Advice TeamOpen. Free home energy visits run by the Guildford charity Zero Carbon Guildford. Call 07443 870691 or email energysurveys@zerocarbonguildford.org
Guildford Borough CouncilThe council says it has put solar on some of its own buildings and builds new council homes with panels. We found no council scheme that fits or funds panels on private homes
ECO4All work must be finished by 31 December 2026, so it’s effectively closed to new applicants (ECO4 solar)

Two cautions. Surrey County Council says it does not cold call about the Warm Homes grant, so anyone who phones or knocks offering a “free council solar survey” is not from the council. And if a new Solar Together round opens, treat the offer as a benchmark. You don’t choose the installer or the panels, installations come in batches, and the survey usually happens after you accept. Compare it with a quote from a local MCS installer who has seen your roof.

For most Guildford homeowners there are no free solar panels and no solar panel grants. What everyone does get is 0% VAT until 31 March 2027 (then 5%), export payments through the Smart Export Guarantee, and the £7,500 Boiler Upgrade Scheme grant if you add a heat pump (heat pump and solar). Full detail: free solar panels, who actually qualifies, solar grants UK and battery grants.

Planning: conservation areas, the Surrey Hills and the new council

Most Guildford houses can have roof panels under permitted development with no application, provided the panels sit no more than 200mm proud of a pitched roof (or 0.6m above a flat roof), don’t rise above the highest part of the roof and the building isn’t listed. The local picture:

Seven conservation areas with extra controls

Guildford has 40 conservation areas. In seven of them the council has made Article 4 directions, which remove some of the rights householders normally have: Onslow Village, Charlotteville and Warren Road, Waterden Road, St Catherine’s, the Town Centre, Shere and East Clandon. The controls differ from one area to the next, and the council’s summary doesn’t say which of them cover solar panels. If you live in one of these seven, ask the council’s planning team before you order anything.

  • Other conservation areas. In the remaining 33, roof panels on an unlisted house are generally still permitted development. A rear slope is the safe choice, and panels on a wall facing a road need permission (solar in conservation areas).
  • Listed buildings. The borough has more than 1,000. Listed building consent is always needed, and buildings in the grounds of a listed building need it too (solar on listed buildings).
  • Surrey Hills National Landscape. It covers much of the south of the borough, from Puttenham across to Shere. Roof panels on ordinary houses remain permitted development here. Panels on a wall facing a road need permission, and ground-mounted systems face tighter rules. Natural England has proposed extending the protected area, which hasn’t been confirmed.
  • Green Belt. Most of the borough outside the town is Green Belt. It restricts new buildings, not panels on an existing roof, so it makes no difference to a normal home installation.
  • Who decides, and what changes in 2027. Until 31 March 2027 the planning authority is Guildford Borough Council. On 1 April 2027 it is replaced, along with Waverley, Woking, Runnymede, Spelthorne and Surrey Heath, by a new West Surrey council. The planning rules stay the same, but expect websites and contact details to change.
  • Flats. Blocks have the same roof rights as houses. The hurdle is the freeholder’s consent.

The network operator: UK Power Networks

Every solar system has to be registered with the company that runs the local electricity cables. For Guildford that’s UK Power Networks (UKPN). You can check on your bill: your supply number (MPAN) starts with 19. The far west of the borough, towards Ash and Tongham, is close to the boundary with SSEN, whose supply numbers start with 20, so check if you live there.

Your systemWhat the network operator needs
Inverter up to 3.68kWA G98 notification, sent by your installer within 28 days after installation
Larger systems and most batteriesA G99 application before connection. Your installer submits it. Typical home systems go through a quicker route, and a standard application can take up to 45 working days
Plug-in solar up to 800WA simple notification

The limit applies to the inverter, not the panels, so a 4kW or 5kW array on a 3.68kW inverter still counts as a notify-only job. Some approvals come with an export limit, which caps what you sell, not what you use. Older terraces and semis sometimes share a looped supply with next door. It has to be separated before a battery or large system goes in, which the network operator normally does at no cost, but it adds a few weeks. Once connected, register for export payments with any Smart Export Guarantee supplier (SEG tariffs compared, solar and smart meters).

Solar battery storage in Guildford

For most Guildford households, a solar and battery system is worth it. This is a commuter town, 35 minutes from London by train, and many houses are empty during the day while the panels are generating. A 4kW south-facing roof exports about 1,900–2,100kWh a year without storage. A 5–10kWh battery at £3,500–£5,500 lifts the share you use yourself from around 50% to 75–85%. With winter charging on a cheap off-peak tariff, solar energy battery storage is worth about £310–£440 a year (off-peak charging, Intelligent Octopus Go). Payback on the battery alone is about 9–12 years.

Guildford’s larger homes often justify more. With an EV, a heat pump or electricity use above 6,000kWh a year, look at 10kWh or more (10kWh batteries, what size battery). A solar battery system can be fitted with the panels or added later to an existing array, and in the villages some people value backup power in a power cut (battery backup). See are solar batteries worth it, adding a battery to existing panels, best solar batteries and solar, battery and EV charger.

Solar PV maintenance, service, repair and inverters in Guildford

Many Guildford systems date from the Feed-in Tariff years of 2010 to 2019. They are now at the age when parts need attention. If you already have panels:

  • Solar PV maintenance. Panels have no moving parts, but a check every few years is sensible. A solar PV service covers the inverter, isolators, cabling, roof fixings and monitoring, and costs £100–£200 (solar panel maintenance, servicing).
  • Solar PV service and repair. If generation has dropped or stopped, start with the inverter display and the isolators, then call an MCS electrician. Most solar repairs turn out to be the inverter, a connector or an isolator, not the panels themselves (solar panels not working, repairs).
  • Solar inverters. The inverter is the part most likely to fail, usually after 10–15 years. A replacement costs £800–£1,500 fitted, and it’s a good moment to switch to a hybrid inverter if you want a battery later (inverter replacement, inverter faults, how long inverters last, hybrid inverters). If your system uses Enphase microinverters, look for an installer who works with them (microinverters vs string).
  • Watch the trees. A tree that cleared the roof ten years ago may shade it now. If summer output is falling year on year, look up before you call anyone (monitoring).
  • Roof work. If the roof needs repair under the panels, removal and refitting costs £500–£1,200 (removal and reinstallation).
  • Solar hot water. Some older Guildford homes have solar thermal panels that heat water. They’re a different technology and are serviced by a plumber or heating engineer, not a solar PV installer (solar thermal vs solar PV, immersion diverters).

Solar panel bird protection and cleaning in Guildford

Solar panel bird protection. Pigeons nest under solar panels across the town, and in the leafier roads squirrels are a problem too, because they chew the cables. Bird protection means fixing a mesh skirt around the edge of the array with clips, with no drilling into the panels. It costs £300–£900 to retrofit and much less if fitted at install, so ask for it on your quote (bird-proofing, pigeons under solar panels).

Solar panel cleaning. On a pitched roof, rain does most of the work. In Guildford the usual reasons to clean are tree sap, pollen, lichen and bird droppings, all more common under trees. A professional clean costs £80–£200. It should use deionised water and soft brushes, never a pressure washer (do solar panels need cleaning).

Commercial solar in Guildford

Guildford has a strong business base for its size, with technology and gaming firms, laboratories, offices and light industry that all use power in the daytime. The main sites are the Surrey Research Park, Slyfield Industrial Estate, Guildford Business Park, Cathedral Hill, Midleton Industrial Estate and the business units along the A3.

Why commercial solar stacks up here

  • Electricity you generate costs a fraction of grid power and isn’t exposed to price rises.
  • Commercial solar panel installations typically cost £450–£1,000 per kW at scale and pay back in four to seven years.
  • It cuts reported carbon emissions, which more customers, tenants and lenders now ask about.
  • Roof space and car parks that earn nothing start to pay (solar carports).

How a commercial installation works

  1. Data. A year of half-hourly meter data shows when you use power.
  2. Survey. A structural check of the roof and an electrical survey.
  3. Design. The system is sized to your daytime use, not to the size of the roof.
  4. Grid application. Larger systems need the network operator’s approval, which can take two to three months.
  5. Consents. Landlord’s consent if you lease, and a check with the council’s planners for large arrays, listed buildings or sites in the Green Belt.
  6. Installation. Usually one to four weeks, with the business running throughout.

Companies can normally claim the full cost against profits in the first year, and onsite solar and batteries are exempt from business rates until 2035. Take advice from your accountant. Schools, churches, care homes and farms in the Surrey Hills are good candidates too. See commercial solar panels, solar panels for schools and solar for farms.

Solar farms near Guildford

Commercial solar farm installations are rare around Guildford, because so much of the land is Green Belt or protected landscape. Two university projects are the ones people ask about.

  • The University of Surrey solar farm at Blackwell Farm. A 12.2MW ground-mounted solar facility with about 22,400 panels on 43 hectares of university land west of the town, developed with SSE Energy Solutions. Guildford Borough Council approved it in November 2024, and in March 2025 the government declined a request to review that decision. It’s designed to supply about a third of the university’s electricity through a private wire to the Stag Hill campus. In August 2025 local press reported that the permission was still subject to a legal challenge. We couldn’t confirm whether it has been built.
  • Surrey Sports Park. The university switched on a rooftop array of more than 1,500 panels here in August 2025. It’s expected to generate about 728,000kWh a year and meet up to 30% of the sports park’s electricity needs.

For planning applications, search the borough council’s planning register. Solar farms need specialist inspection and maintenance, often by drone, which is a different trade from home solar.

Choosing a solar company in Guildford

There are plenty of solar panel companies in Guildford and the rest of Surrey. They fall into four groups, and each suits a different buyer.

Type of solar companyGood forWatch for
Local independent installerPrice, choice of kit, quick visits if something goes wrongCheck years trading and that the guarantee is insurance-backed
Regional specialistLarger or more complex jobs, batteries and EV chargers togetherMay use subcontract teams. Ask who fits it
National brand or energy supplierA familiar name and finance optionsUsually dearer, with kit you can’t choose (nationals compared)
Group-buying schemeA fair benchmark price with council backingNo choice of installer, and installs in batches

We don’t rank or review individual solar panel providers in Guildford here, because we can’t inspect their work. Whichever solar company you’re looking at, the same checks apply, and a good one will be happy to answer all of them. National names we have reviewed include Octopus, E.ON, British Gas, Heatable and Sunsave.

Solar panel installers in Guildford: how to choose

A good local solar panel installer in Guildford will usually beat a national by £1,000–£2,000 on the same specification. Local solar installers also know which conservation areas have extra controls, how the Surrey Hills rules work, how to scaffold on a slope and how to work on clay tiles, and they’re close enough to come back if something needs attention.

The best solar installers in Guildford aren’t the ones with the biggest adverts. They’re the ones who survey properly, name every part in writing and are still trading in ten years. Whether you’re comparing a solar PV installer, a solar power installer who works alone or a larger firm, run the same checks:

  • They’re on the MCS register under their exact trading name.
  • They’re a member of HIES or RECC.
  • They’ve been trading for three years or more at Companies House.
  • The panel, inverter and battery are named in writing.
  • The quote includes a shade analysis and a realistic output figure.
  • They check the planning position and handle the network application.
  • They’ve fitted on your type of roof before, and can show you photos.
  • You get a ten-year insurance-backed workmanship guarantee.
  • There’s no “today only” pricing.

Pay any deposit by credit card for extra protection. How to choose a solar installer is the full checklist.

The bottom line on solar panels in Guildford

Solar works well in Guildford. £5,900–£7,800 buys a 4kW system that generates 3,850–4,200kWh a year on a clear south-facing roof, saves £740–£800 and pays back in about eight to ten years. Good sunshine, large roofs and a lot of homes empty in the daytime make this a strong town for solar with a battery. The things to get right are shade, from trees and from the hills, and planning if you live in one of the conservation areas.

Don’t wait for free panels. If your household income is £36,000 or less and your home is rated D–G, call the county council about the Warm Homes: Local Grant. If a new group-buying round opens, register and use it as a benchmark. Otherwise, remember the 0% VAT window closes on 31 March 2027, and get a vetted local quote to compare (are solar panels worth it?, benefits of solar panels).

Solar panels in Guildford: frequently asked questions

How much do solar panels cost in Guildford?

A typical 4kW system of 9–10 panels costs £5,900–£7,800 installed in Guildford in 2026 with 0% VAT, a little above the national average. Add £3,500–£5,500 for a 5–10kWh battery, so a 4kW system with a battery is £9,400–£13,300. Steep streets, clay tiles and complex roofs cost more. A plain semi with a driveway is at the cheaper end.

Are solar panels worth it in Guildford?

Yes, on an unshaded roof. Guildford gets about 1,580 hours of sunshine a year, and a well-oriented roof yields around 960–1,050kWh per kW of panels. A 4kW south-facing system generates roughly 3,850–4,200kWh, saves around £740–£800 a year at October 2026 prices and pays back in about eight to ten years. Shade from trees and hills is the main thing that reduces this.

Are there solar panel grants in Guildford?

Only for lower-income households. The Warm Homes: Local Grant can pay for solar panels in privately owned homes rated EPC D–G where the household income is £36,000 or less, or someone receives certain benefits. Surrey County Council runs it for the whole county, on 01483 404505. The council says it never cold calls about the grant. Everyone pays 0% VAT on installed solar until 31 March 2027.

Is Solar Together open in Guildford?

Not when we checked in October 2026. Solar Together Surrey, the county council’s group-buying scheme run with iChoosr, took registrations for its last round from 2 June to 8 August 2025. One Surrey council’s website says a wider replacement scheme is coming in autumn 2026, but we couldn’t find a launch date.

Do I need planning permission for solar panels in Guildford?

Usually not. Roof panels are permitted development on most Guildford houses, including in the Surrey Hills and the Green Belt. Listed buildings always need consent, and the borough has more than 1,000. Of Guildford’s 40 conservation areas, seven have Article 4 directions that remove some permitted development rights: Onslow Village, Charlotteville and Warren Road, Waterden Road, St Catherine’s, the Town Centre, Shere and East Clandon. Check with the council first if you live in one.

Who is the DNO for solar panels in Guildford?

UK Power Networks. Your supply number starts with 19. The far west of the borough, around Ash and Tongham, is near the boundary with SSEN, whose numbers start with 20. Systems with an inverter up to 3.68kW are notified after fitting under G98. Larger systems and most batteries need a G99 application first, which your installer submits.

How much do solar PV maintenance, repairs and bird protection cost in Guildford?

A solar PV service or inspection costs about £100–£200. A replacement inverter, the most common repair on older systems, costs £800–£1,500 fitted. Solar panel bird protection with mesh costs £300–£900 to retrofit and much less if fitted at installation. Professional cleaning costs £80–£200, and is mainly needed under trees.

How do I find a good solar panel installer in Guildford?

Check they’re on the MCS register under their exact trading name, are a member of HIES or RECC, and have traded for at least three years. Ask for the panel, inverter and battery models in writing, a shade analysis, and a ten-year insurance-backed workmanship guarantee. A good local installer usually beats a national brand by £1,000–£2,000 on the same kit. Avoid anyone offering a price that’s only good today.

Figures are typical 2026 estimates for Guildford for guidance only. Installed prices vary with roof type, access, system specification and installer. Output ranges are indicative for the roof directions shown and depend on pitch and shading. Savings use the Ofgem price cap for 1 October to 31 December 2026 (26.32p/kWh GB average) and a 12p export rate. Sunshine hours are the Met Office 1991–2020 average for Wisley. Conservation area, listed building and Article 4 details are from Guildford Borough Council, checked in October 2026. Solar Together, Warm Homes: Local Grant and Home Energy Advice Team details are from Surrey County Council and other Surrey councils, and scheme status can change. Council reorganisation details are as confirmed by the government in October 2025. The Surrey Hills extension is as proposed by Natural England and is not yet confirmed. Solar farm details are from the University of Surrey, SSE Energy Solutions and local press, and may be out of date. The network operator boundary is approximate, so check your own supply number. Housing descriptions are general, and individual streets vary. Commercial tax points are general information, not tax advice. Permitted development rules are as set out in the General Permitted Development Order as amended in 2026. ECO4 work must be completed by 31 December 2026. 0% VAT on installed residential solar applies until 31 March 2027 per HMRC. Always obtain quotes from MCS-certified installers.
