Going Solar UK is an introduction service. We don’t design, supply, or fit solar systems ourselves. What we do is understand your project in plain English, then match you with a trusted, MCS-certified installer who’s a strong fit for your home — and they take it from there. Here’s exactly how that works, and what it means for you.
Being clear about this matters. It protects you, and it’s how a responsible introduction service should operate.
Four clear stages. You stay in control at every one, and there’s no obligation to go ahead at any point.
You answer a few simple questions about your property and what you’re looking for — solar panels, a battery, or both. There’s no jargon and no commitment. This is just so we understand enough to match you with the right installer for the job.
Based on your location and project, we match you with one or more installers from our network who are MCS-certified and suited to work like yours. MCS certification is the accreditation you need to qualify for the Smart Export Guarantee and 0% VAT on solar.
You can always check an installer’s certification yourself on the MCS register before going ahead.
From this point, you’re working directly with the installer — not with Going Solar UK. They’ll contact you to discuss your needs, arrange any survey, and provide a quote tailored to your home. All the technical detail, product choice, and pricing comes from them.
You weigh up the quote in your own time, compare if you’ve had more than one, and decide whether to proceed. Nothing is binding until you sign directly with the installer. There’s no pressure and no obligation at any stage.
A fair question, and one we’d rather answer up front. When we introduce you to an installer and that introduction leads to a job going ahead, the installer pays us a commission. You never pay us anything, and being paid this way doesn’t change which installer is right for you — we match on your project, not on commission.
There’s no fee for our introduction service. The installer covers the cost, not you.
We only match you with installers certified under the Microgeneration Certification Scheme.
You’re free to walk away at any stage. An introduction is just that — the decision is always yours.
No. Going Solar UK is not an installer or contractor and does not design, supply, or fit solar systems. We’re an introduction service — we connect you with an MCS-certified installer who carries out the work. The survey, quote, contract, and installation are all handled directly between you and that installer.
Using Going Solar UK is completely free. We don’t charge you a fee for matching you with an installer. When an introduction leads to a job going ahead, we’re paid a commission by the installer — never by you. Any price you’re quoted comes from the installer and isn’t affected by our commission.
They’re solar installers from our network who are certified under the Microgeneration Certification Scheme (MCS) and suited to work like yours. MCS certification is what makes you eligible for the Smart Export Guarantee and 0% VAT. You can check any installer’s certification yourself on the MCS register before you commit.
Not at all. An introduction carries no obligation. You can speak to the installer, weigh up their quote, and decide not to proceed — at any stage, for any reason. Nothing is binding until you choose to sign a contract directly with the installer.
The installer is. Because the contract is directly between you and them, the installer is solely responsible for the advice they give, the products they supply, and the workmanship. We recommend you carry out your own checks — including MCS certification, insurance, and reviews — before entering into any contract.
Tell us about your project and we’ll match you with MCS-certified installers near you — free, with no obligation, usually within one working day.
